What is a Whoodle
Here at Rose City Doodles we get a lot of people who don't know what a Whoodle is. Everyone has heard of Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. People are even familiar with Aussiedoodles and Sherpadoodles. Most of the time though - our customers come to us without knowing what a Whoodle is. That being said- all of our customers end up loving their Whoodle.
So- What is a Whoodle? A Whoodle (also called a Wheatondoodle, Wheatonpoo, Sweatendoodle, or Sweatenpoo) is the cross of a Poodle and a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier breed. The Whoodle is generally a medium sized dog, ours range between 35 and 40lbs.
Whoodles have the adorable Teddy Bear look and, like the Poodle and the Wheaten Terrier, the Whoodle is an excellent dog for a family. They are intelligent and playful. These dogs build strong individual relationships with each family member and are very loyal, intuitive, and affectionate.
If you are looking for a dog who loves to snuggle and cuddle with the family on the couch or go on adventures of hiking and camping - the Whoodle is the perfect pup for all of that.
How are Whoodles different
With so many options for hybrid-poodle breeds why pick a Whoodle? What makes a Whoodle different from other Doodle hybrid breeds?
- 100% Hypoallergenic coat (Both the Wheaton and Poodle are non-shedding) makes them ideal for families that have allergies
- Great family and companion dogs
- Excellent candidates for emotional support, service, and therapy dogs due to their being highly observant and intelligent
- They love kids and get along well with other animals
